Head of Mielkutė, Languages Professor
Ąžuolas: is Lithuanian for Oak
Martynas: is from the Roman name Martinus, which was derived from Martis, the genitive case of the name of the Roman god Mars.
Astrauckas: is a Lithuanian surname of disputed origin, either from the Polish ostrega "dweller by the blackberries", ostry "sharp, keen" or ostrouszek "sharp ear, a type of mixed breed dog"
Ąžuolas Martynas Astrauckas is a Lithuanian Mielkutė Alumnus who currently teaches languages at the Eastern European School of Magic, and is also head of his house. Born to Austėja Astrauckienė and Augustas Astrauckas in Radviliškis, Lithuania, shortly before his mother was told that she couldn't have any more children, Ąžuolas was encouraged to embrace his Mielkutė heritage from a young age. Under their watchful gaze, Ąžuolas flourished, learnt 5 languages fluently before starting the Eastern European School of Magic, and grew into his current crazy persona. While at school, he excelled at languages... but not much else. Now, as languages professor, he enjoys seeing students looking at him as though he is a weirdo.
Ąžuolas has dark hair, olive skin and dark blue eyes. His model is Luke Pasqualino.
Ąžuolas could very easily be perceived as crazy to the outside world; though he prefers to use the word "passionate" or "enthusiastic" instead. He carries an intense passion about the Lithuanian language, even moreso than the others he teaches. Perhaps to others, this could be seen as crazy -- it's a difficult language to master, after all. But the love for the language transcends not just the language itself, but everything about the country. Ąžuolas, in his attempt to share his love for the language, comes off a little bit crazy to others. If you can get past the intensity of his passion, you would find that he carries this same passion into many other things he does.
